we're coming

so this post on a Salon blog started out as a generic recitation of the well known poem by Martin Niemöller
they first came for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Catholics,
and I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant.

Then they came for me —
and by that time no one was left to speak up.
(no assurances for accuracy of the poem... just copying the version in the post)

You can read the rest of the thing if you want - it's an Oklahoman talking about the passage of the anti-gay marriage/civil-union/anything with two wo/men amendment. What struck me the most, however, was his closing. I'd just like to put my own emphasis on it here.

I'm not waiting for them to come for me. I'm coming for them.
